Bat Reviews: 2018 Miken DC-41 Slow Pitch Softball Bats

Pay attention, power hitters.

Have you heard of Team USA softball legend and Miken Sports advisory staff member Denny Crine? His signature slow pitch bat, the DC-41, has been a constant on fields across the nation for over five years. For the 2018 season, both the ASA and the USSSA model are ready to dominate diamonds and petrify pitchers with their best-in-class composite materials and industry-leading bat technology.

After a brief minor league stint with the Chicago White Sox that was cut short due to injury, Crine took his competitiveness to slow pitch softball. Standing at 6'6" and weighing in at over 250 pounds, DC launches softballs with relative ease.  After eight World Titles in softball, an ASA Major MVP award, and numerous Long Haul Bombers tour trophies, Denny is one of the best, most respected, and accoladed players in the history of the game. In a recent interview, he was asked, "What's your favorite bat of all time?" His answer? The DC-41, of course.

Also known as Denny "Grand Slam" Crine, he was one of the first athletes to have his own signature Miken softball bat. The DC-41 symbolizes Miken's commitment to greatness through eye-catching cosmetics and elite innovation. Available and approved for both ASA and USSSA leagues, there is an option for all associations and every player who wants to swing with the best of them. While the two 2018 models are similar regarding reliability and performance, the USSSA and ASA approved slow pitch softball bats each have their own distinct features. Below, the two 2018 slow pitch softball bats are broken down for you:

2018 Miken DC-41 SuperMax ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (MDC17A)

Specifically designed to crush lower compression, 52 COR softballs, the Miken DC41 ASA softball bat is back and better than ever. If you're looking for some serious mass behind your swing, Miken's SuperMax full one-ounce end load provides premium pop with extreme distances on contact with the sweet spot.

As a three-piece, 100% composite construction, this year's ASA model is slightly different from the 2017 four-piece, fully composite design. But, it still utilizes the proven tetra-core technology and is manufactured out of the revolutionary 100 COMP premium aerospace grade fibers for distinguished durability.

Keep in mind that this model is approved for play in ASA only. If you play in a USSSA, NSA, or ISA league, don't worry. Miken has created a DC-41 for you, too.

2018 Miken DC41 5-Star Review.jpg

Pros: "All I can say is WOW. The barrel is long, and the pop is next level. I definitely feel the end load, which is nice, and I'm hitting more home runs than ever before."

Cons: "Not a huge fan of the highlighter orange graphics, but it's all good."

USSSA 2018 DC41 Review.jpg

Pros: "Great pop with almost no vibration. This bat is strongly constructed. The grip is better than lizard skin in my opinion, and the handle is super thin. I would recommend this bat to anyone."

Cons: "None."
