Wilson Glove Spotlight: Dustin Pedroia & Brandon Phillips

Wilson Glove Spotlight: Dustin Pedroia & Brandon Phillips

In this week’s glove spotlight, we’ll be taking a look at two of Wilson’s new A2K game models. These are the same gloves worn by second baseman Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox and second baseman Brandon Phillips of the Cincinnati Reds.

Wilson A2K Series Dustin Pedroia Model

pedroia

True to Dustin Pedroia’s playing style, this glove is durable and more than ready to pla in the dirt. This model is 11.50”, Red Sox red with black accenting and has both a smaller hand opening and shorter finger stalls to fit Pedroia’s specifications. The Pro Stock Select Leather used has maximum consistency to create a more durable glove. Double lacing helps better sustain the normal wear and tear a glove goes through while the longer laces allow you to both tighten your glove when needed as well as distract opposing baserunners. Dustin Pedroia gains a great feel for the ball by having the padding in the heel of the glove removed, allowing him ultimate control with less rebound. The Rolled Dual Welting on the back of the glove allows for a fairly easy break-in.

Brandon Phillips is definitely one of the more flashy players in baseball, consistently making some of the most outstanding plays on the diamond year after year. So it only makes sense that his glove matches his style of play. His 11.50” model is Cincinnati red and gunmetal grey with yellow-gold lacing. The shallow, yet stable pocket allows you to get the ball in and out of your glove quickly. Like the DP15, the DATDUDE model is made from the top % of Pro Stock Select Leather with Rolled Dual Welting, ensuring that this glove is both very durable yet soft to the touch.
