Little League Josh Jerry parent
Pros: Excellent bat! It has great balance and helps my bat speed. The sweet spot is really solid.
Cons: Nothing to report
Very good extra-light solution Chris O coach
Pros: Light weight means good bat speed, which is THE key in the USA bat era; it's weight balanced and not end-loaded, so feels esp. light.; very affordable versus other USA bat options
Cons: small sweet spot and typically limited pop; smaller barrel diameter
Closest to stated weight we can find Robert coach
Pros: We bought and returned our share of bats due to this new standard. A couple we kept because we thought they would be ok, but they got marked up pretty well. In our stable now we have a 28/16 S450, a 29/17 S450 and a Beast X 28/16. Initially, my son liked the feel of the Beast X 28/16 over the S450 28/16. Both of these bats actually weigh around 18.5 ounces with the Beast seemingly just a little more balanced. As the season has progressed, my son just hasn't been able to get the bat around consistently. We weighed an S450 29/17 and it weighed 17.5 ounces - actually lighter than the 16 oz bats. Go figure. Since we made the switch to the less expensive 29/17 he seems to be doing a little better. By now, I'm sure word is out we can't expect anywhere near the same performance as in years past, but this bat seems to be the best option for us - at least in the 29/17 size. Maybe it will be for you too.
Cons: It's a USA Bat - and we have to use it. Everyone is in the same boat. My son has complained of some vibration. We bought him some padded gloves which have helped some. We intend to put a new grip on it to help him with that.
Coach S. Vercelli coach
Pros: GREAT VALUE Light Weight drop 12 Good POP Good Feel Was easy to exchange Kids choosing this bat in dugout over their own allows for increased bat speed
Cons: First bat had to be exchanged Requires intermediate to advanced skill to get best performance out of smaller barrel
A decent starter bat Justin parent
Pros: Weight, length, handle diameter well suited to allow better bat control even for smaller players.
Cons: By design, the USA Bats are to be more "wood like," and thus do not have the same pop as bats under the previous standard.
Defective at first bat Jay Villa coach
Pros: Looks and Feels great. Nice weight distribution.
Cons: Bat end cap came popped off bat 3rd hit? My son is 12 and first time playing baseball. Still learning how to swing, he does not have a lot of force behind his swing, and coach was throwing batting practice. Not a powerful impact. Either poorly manufactured, or quality control issues. When I tried to replace, I was referred to the manufacturer for warranty. Manufacture kept putting me on hold and never returned to the phone.
Great bat for the money A.D. parent
Pros: Lightweight & decent pop for a usa bat. My 9 year old son loves it, hits the ball just as well as he did with the Mako last year. It's the middle of winter here in upstate NY & we've only been able to take it out for BP a couple of times. Definitely see an increase in his bat speed with the -12, he pulls the ball alot more. Durability remains to be seen, but so far so good.
Cons: None that we have found so far.
The best 2018 bat for 90% of youth players. Jeff Harper parent
Pros: It will get the job done for $69.99 and will have as much pop as any of the 2018 bats. We have an Easton Ghost X 2 5/8 in a 30 inch drop-11 and the Beast X in a drop -12. 29 inch, Just know if you really want a drop -10 get a drop -12 because all the new bats are heavy this bat in a 28 was 18.60 oz. 2 oz. more than a drop -12 ,making it a real drop -10.His soon to be illegal 2015 Combat maxim 28 inch drop -12 was 16 oz on the money! Put some 1.1 Lizard skin on it and your done.
Cons: 2 .60 onces heavier than the stated drop weight, small sweet spot ,like his old Easton S50 he learned to hit with in Farm. This bat screams for a 1.1 Lizard skin grip.

I'm noticing a bunch of reviews across sites where this bat 2018 Easton S450 is ending up weighing 2-2.5oz's more than the stated weight. I'm looking for a bat that is a drop 12 with a true 15 oz weight. Does anything exist right now? Is Easton working on this issue? Jim

Where is the weight in this bat? Or, more importantly, does it have a balanced swing? My 7 year old son used the Easton S500, 28', -13 last year, so looking for a similar experience. Many of the other bats are significantly heavier. Would you recommend this bat or a different one? Thanks! Jona
