rawlings 5150 Player
Pros: It has quite a bit of pop for a alloy one peice
Cons: I have had this bat for a while now but it rings my hands so much. I am thinking about the victus nox but i think it'll be to endloaded.
really good Liam Player
Pros: I hit dingers all the time now as soon as I switched bat this bat is amazing
Cons: very loud makes people crazy indoors
Dents Easily Tim Edwards Parent
Pros: Great pop. Big sound. Kids love it.
Cons: First bat dented within the 5th game of use. Warrantied the bay with Rawlings. Second bat had multiple debts within weeks. This was a 27" -10 my 8yr. Old used for coach pitch. He settings hard but a bat should not dent this easy. Very disappointed, my older son's 5150 was a Beast.
Good bat EGarcia Parent
Pros: Kid loves the bat
Cons: none
Rawlings 5150 Review Trey Brown Coach
Pros: Great bat, especially for the price! Son is transitioning from 2 5/8 barrel to 2 3/4, no reason to jump at a huge price tag for unknown performance benefits with a more expensive bats. Wanted a 1 piece, big barrel, under a 100 bucks, that would deliver more pop than the standard 2 5/8 barrel. I'm a big Rawlings bat guy, and my son has swung them all with great results! This thin handle, big barrel has pop, and it doesn't feel awkward and heavy.
Cons: None
Best bang for the buck I’ve seen for a USSSA bat Kenneth Turner Parent
Pros: Bat is less expensive than a similar Marucci, DeMarini or Easton Great sound and this bat is hot. My son is 7 and he is crushing balls with this 28/18 5150. I’m going to buy the next size up just to have it.
Cons: None so far that I can tell other than it is not the “it” bat like a Cat 7 or 8 or other bats kids like
Great value bat Landon's Dad Parent
Pros: My 10u son moved from rec ball to AAA/Majors this year so a huge jump in pitching. To make matters more difficult he broke both wrists in Feb. He needed a bat he could control and swing faster. When he was in the cage his exit velos were higher than with the cat 8 and other more expensive bats. In practices and games he has more confidence with this bat than others he's tried. Very balanced and easy swinging, with a big sweet spot.
Cons: Avg pop. Very loud, I don't mind that tho.
Great bat at an excellent price. Kevin Blanton Coach
Pros: This bat has great pop. My son’s first time using it at practice he hit the ball further than I have ever seen him hit it before. He loves the sound and feel of this bat.
Cons: None yet
This is the bat!! Dan Parent
Pros: First time ever my son has been truly happy with a bat. Awesome pop! Best I have seen out of all composite and alloy bats (and we've tried a lot of bats over the years). True to weight. My son is small so weight really matters. I have recently learned that most bats, especially composite, are 2-3 oz over their stated weight. For small kids that rely on bat speed to generate distance, this is a big deal. I was very happy that the bat we received was only a tenth of an oz over its stated weight. Bat looks great and has an awesome sound.
Cons: None at all
Love the sound Anynomus Parent
Pros: Great bat! Son loves it.
Cons: Not really a con, but the durability is yet to be tested.
Son prefers this over the more expensive Cat 8 Bill Hoskins Coach
Pros: My son has both this bat and the Cat 8. He prefers the 5150 over the Marucci which is also a very good bat. We will be ordering another one a size up this spring.
Cons: The only con that some people may experience is really personal preference. The bat is extremely loud especially when hitting indoors.
One Happy Grandson Bonnie King Other
Pros: This is his 2nd Rawlings - same series - he absolutely loves it!
Cons: None
7u player Dee Parent
Pros: My son has used the 28/18 2020 5150 Usssa for 3 months now. He has been extremely consistent at the plate. He has never once complained about hands. He has been very consistent with the bat. We do own other popular bats, but this one has been the one I prefer him swinging at game time. It’s a solid buy.
Cons: honestly I can’t say I have seen any cons from this product.
Hot out of wrapper Anonymous Coach
Pros: Won in a tourney. Team started hitting with it and this thing has tons of pop up there with the Cat 8
Cons: None so far

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.
The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.
In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.
In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.
The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.
Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
